MIND SET is a PILOT project supported by sovereign housing to start work on a new musical about living with poor mental health and neuro diversity. Created together, using music and performance.
10 weekly sessions, working with children and young people to explore mental resilience and well-being through a creative process – using theatre, script writing and music technology as a tool. These sessions will form part of a wider project.
Creation of an excerpt of original musical theatre, themed around neurodiversity and mental health reflecting young peoples ‘lived experience’ living on an island, an isolated community. Creative workshops with young people looking at the world through the optics of the individual and their families. This project aims to educate on the stigma and inequalities associated with neuro diversity and mental health working with young people that have a ‘lived’ experience. Through a series of workshops, alongside health professionals and creatives, this project will explore the multiple societal barriers that limit young people – resulting in the co-creation of an original musical theatre production, to be shared to a variety of audiences as an education tool.
Sessions at Oakfield Primary School for young people aged 11 +
Start Date: Wednesday 15th November
Time: 5:00 – 7:00
